Alerts and Notifications App

We’re introducing a new “Alerts and Notifications” app to simplify the management of alert rules and notifications for database service events. The new app provides a scalable, policy-based model that enables customers to manage alerts at the subscription level.

Key enhancements include:

  • Alert Policies Define alert rules once and apply them across multiple subscriptions.
  • Notification Profiles & ChannelsCentralized management of alert destinations like Email, Slack, or Webhooks.
  • Automated Orchestration The system automatically applies alert policies to all relevant database and compute entities within each subscription.

This release also introduces new APIs for managing alert policies, subscriptions, and notifications, offering a unified, flexible interface for observability and event management.

Servers App Enhancements — Granular Infrastructure Control

We’re excited to announce a major enhancement to the Servers app that enables complete lifecycle management of database servers hosting multiple database services.

The following are some of the new features added:

  • Server-level resizing, monitoring, tagging, and network management; independent of the DB Service App.
  • Infra Admin: A new IAM persona designed for infrastructure-focused users. Infra Admins can create, manage, and share servers, set maintenance windows, and control access for Data Owners.

  • Enhanced Access Controls:
    • Earlier, every data owner had complete access to all servers. Access to perform server-level actions is now restricted to Infra Admins only.
    • Data Owners can view and consume shared servers, but cannot create or manage them if restrictions are enabled. Note that this feature is not enabled for everyone. Contact Tessell Support to enable this for your account.
    • For existing servers managed by data owners, a one-time action can be taken to transfer ownership to an Infra Admin persona.
  • Improved Visibility: The Servers App now lists all servers (shared or dedicated) with detailed attributes, utilization metrics, and filtering options (region, compute shape, etc.). Earlier, the server list would show only the count of DB services running on each server.
  • Define and record maintenance windows for server patching—automation support to follow in a future phase.

Aggregated Monitoring Metrics

We're excited to announce an enhancement to Tessell's Monitoring Framework with support for Aggregated Metrics — delivering deeper insights through Min, Max, and Average values over customizable time intervals. This feature empowers users to analyze performance trends more effectively and simplifies diagnostics for both infrastructure and database-level metrics.

The following are some of the new features added:

  • Aggregated Metrics (AVG, MIN, MAX): Users can now visualize and analyze minimum, maximum, and average values for key performance metrics such as CPU Usage, Memory Usage, IOPS (Data & Archive Disks), and Throughput (Data & Archive Disks). This enables quick identification of performance spikes, troughs, and steady-state behavior.

  • Get-All-Aggregations Option: A new parameter (get-all-aggregations=true) allows retrieval of all available aggregation types (AVG, MIN, MAX) in a single API call. This simplifies integrations with external analytics tools and dashboards.

  • Granularity Control: Users can choose from predefined intervals — 1m, 5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 6h, 12h, 1d — to tailor the level of detail in metric analysis. Finer intervals offer real-time precision, while larger ones provide long-term trend visualization.

  • Persistent Configuration: Selections for aggregation types and granularity now persist in the Expanded View, ensuring continuity while drilling down into detailed charts.

Why This Matters

This enhancement makes Tessell's monitoring capabilities more powerful and data-driven. By enabling interval-based aggregation, users can uncover meaningful patterns from high-frequency data, reduce visualization noise, and make better-informed decisions for performance tuning, capacity planning, and anomaly detection.

These improvements lay the groundwork for advanced observability and predictive insights, with future phases introducing automated trend detection and recommendation systems.

Minor Enhancements and Bug Fixes

  • Support for Oracle version 19.28.
  • Support for DNS Entries for AWS Private Endpoints.

  • Fixed intermittent HA service provisioning failure in Azure.

  • Fixed the incorrect time zone setting for backups created via RPO policy. Instead of the user-selected timezone, UTC was being used earlier.

  • Fixed intermittent RMAN recovery failure in Azure.
